Join three world-class tap dancers, headed by London-based tapper Avalon Rathgeb, as they improvise alongside a live band for a one-off performance at the Jerwood DanceHouse on Friday 23 June.

This hugely energetic evening from Old Kent Road is full of the creative individuality of tap dance, transporting audiences back to the 1930s which saw dancers jam and battle on street corners. Founded by artistic director Avalon Rathgeb, Old Kent Road will create a tap jam for the twenty-first century, having gathered the very best tap dancers and musicians and culminating in hugely passionate performances.

Avalon creates unique tap choreography, constantly raising the game of the UK tap scene. For Tap Jam, she is joined on stage at the Jerwood DanceHouse by tappers Adele Joel and Ryan Campbell-Birch.

Demonstrating improvisation at its finest, this exciting performance event will pay homage to both the history of tap dance and jazz culture too. Audience members tapping their feet are welcome to don their tap shoes and jam along, creating live improvisation at its finest in an all-encompassing performance.

Suitable for all ages.
