Get Your Glow-Up on the Waterfront
Nestled in the industrial-chic surroundings of DanceEast is an oasis of calm and relaxation. Niroshini Cosmetic Acupuncture delivers complementary health and beauty therapies from a purpose-built therapy room in the popular Jerwood dance house, under the expert hands of Melissa Day.
With many years’ experience in a variety of treatments, including Reiki, cosmetic & facial acupuncture and even hypnosis, Melissa prides herself on her natural approach to beauty; taking each individual as their own ‘work of art’, and enhancing their unique appearances through her holistic techniques.
One of Melissa’s most popular treatments is a facial massage and lymphatic drainage treatment, which I was invited to experience recently to rejuvenate my tired winter skin. This treatment promises to make you ‘feel like you’ve been on holiday and go home walking on air’ - and with my skin subject to constant wind chill, sun exposure and sweat, working outdoors in my primary job and being heavily into fitness - I was looking forward to treating it well for a change!
The one-hour treatment, which costs £65, focuses on the upper body, including hands, arms, shoulder, neck and face. The specialist technique used activates all layers of the skin and underlying muscles, aiding lymphatic drainage. Melissa employs uplifting essential oils in the massage process; penetrating and relaxing the skin to achieve the ‘glow’ effect desired.
Companied with some soothing music, the hour passed quicker than I had hoped, with the relaxing effect almost easing me into a deep sleep! Melissa commented on how revitalised my skin looked: and upon looking in the mirror, I couldn’t help but agree. My face sported the ‘just got home from the beach’ look; fresh and dewy, and feeling very hydrated. It is definitely a treatment I would enjoy indulging in every now and again to maintain the health of my skin - not to mention the air of tranquility felt for the remainder of the day.
