It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – in fact, the festive season has been creeping up on us ever faster since the clocks went back... As you might expect, the Waterfront venues are geared up to celebrate with a feast of live music treats for all tastes.
If you like your Yuletide sounds more traditional than trendy, Quay Place has a carol concert, (Wednesday 12th), while St Peter’s hosts seasonal musical events throughout the month. The lovely people at La Tour Cycle Café present a whole day of Christmas fun on the 22nd with music and a visit from Santa himself!
Other live crackers this month include, fresh from a singing cardboard box in a major Christmas TV advert, the great voice of Ashton Jones and his Quintet (Steamboat, 8th), and Backwater Records supremo Steve Mann’s folk-rock outfit Exit 13 at the SB Victor (14th). No doubt Steve will also be backing Holly Johnston, who returns this month to launch her new album at St Peter’s (21st).
The St Peter’s New Year Hootenanny closes 2018 in great style with (among others) Josh Locke crowning a record year with the Lockerbillies.
A very merry Live Christmas! And off we go to 2019...
