It's World Vegan Month

You’re unlikely to visit any restaurant or food vendor these days without spotting the term ‘vegan’. But what was once seen as an unusual lifestyle choice has rapidly increased; with an estimated 3.5 million vegans in the UK – almost a 650% rise from 2016.

Far from just being a ‘lifestyle choice’, veganism has grown in popularity thanks to documentaries such as What The Health and Cowspiracy; investigating the less palatable side of consuming meat and dairy products. These shocking revelations work alongside the growing rebuff of the leather and fur industries, and with millions of consumers now choosing to boycott brands that test on animals.

November has welcomed the celebration of veganism since 1944, and The Vegan Society actively encourages non-vegans to spend the 30 days living as a vegan, to highlight the benefits and accessibility to all consumers. You can find out more about how to get involved at www.vegansociety.com
