The Saints Traders

Cathy Frost is the owner of Love One in St Peter’s Street, one of Ipswich’s most unique gift shops.  Cathy is also the Coordinator of The Saints Traders Group

For many businesses, Easter is a welcome start to the Spring/Summer season. It is the first bank holiday of the year, there is the hope of better weather and it’s a chance to get together with family and friends. For the Saints’ traders especially, it usually signals an increase in footfall and the return of our many out-of-town visitors.

The prospect of warmer and settled weather certainly encourages people to go shopping and to explore our great variety of restaurants and cafés. For some businesses, it’s also a chance to open up the garden; you check these out at K Bar, At Twenty5, and Applaud Coffee. It could be the first chance for some alfresco dining. These little gardens are some of our best kept secrets on the Saints.

Many retailers experience some seasonal variation in the product ranges that they offerat Easter, as many customers will be turning their minds to Spring cleaning and the chance of getting into the garden. The Saints can offer lots of inspiration both for the indoors and outdoors. Maud’s Attic and Merchant House Interiors will be getting their garden furniture display ready to open at the end of April. The House in Town and Loveone have lots of gift ideas for any Easter presents you may be looking for. All of our boutiques are now stocked with fashions that are looking forward to sunnier and longer days.  For a splash of spring colour head to Marianna, Cake and Catwalk and the Italian Shirt Shop.

An Easter favourite in Loveone is the much loved Jellycat bunny. One of Cake and Catwalk’s best sellers this time of year is the rabbit handbag charm, popular with all ages.

With the anticipation of the new season ahead are you thinking of the first BBQ’s?  If you are tempted and want advice on seasonal meat for the BBQ or the Easter Sunday table, make a visit to our local butcher at Rose House Butchery and meet our very knowledgeable butcher Jamie.

So, if you are looking to shake off the Winter, take a trip down the Saints for lots of seasonal inspiration.
